Helena Monteiro, Executive Director

With more than 20 years of experience in international development and the nonprofit sector, Helena Monteiro has worked for the Canadian Public Health Association, the Pan American Health Organization, and the Organization of American States. In Brazil she worked as Program Director at IDIS, a support organization serving corporate and family philanthropy. She earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Toronto and is Senior Fellow of the CUNY Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. Helena joined WINGS in January 2011.

Ana Borges Pinho, Knowledge Management Coordinator

Ana Pinho holds a bachelor's degree in international relations and an MSc in development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has worked for grassroots and international non-governmental organisations in Brazil, doing research, administration, and coordination of projects on gender, adult education, and fair trade. Ana's last position was at Amnesty International in London, where she worked on human rights issues in Brazil.

Christopher de la Torre, Managing Editor

Christopher de la Torre brings more than 10 years of editorial experience to WINGS. His credits include The Huffington Post, Institute for Ethics & Emerging Technologies (IEET), Lambda Literary Review and Vogue Italia. Christopher earned dual bachelors degrees in biology and English, and has completed 33 credit hours in the George Mason University graduate writing program. His multimedia project, COMPASS, was named 'model program' by the U.S. Department of Education in 2006.

Ashley Harper, Programme Coordinator

Ashley Harper brings more than four years of private sector experience to WINGS. Hailing from San Francisco, she has worked in politics, fundraising, communications and sales in South Carolina, California, and Washington, DC. Ashley is focusing her talents on planning WINGS Forum 2014.

Paula Strauss Bacellar, Administrative Assistant

Paula Strauss has volunteered for Young Diabetes Association Brazil (ADJ) since 2007, working as an event coordinator in a support group for children with diabetes for ADJ. Paula earned a bachelors degree in literature and language education from São Paulo University.

Patrick Johnston, Research Consultant

Former President and CEO of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, Patrick is currently the Principal of BOREALIS Advisors, a Toronto based consultancy supporting philanthropists, foundations and charities. Patrick is a past Board Director of both Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC) and the Council on Foundations (COF). He was also on the Board of Johannesburg based CIVICUS, serving for three years as Board Chair. Patrick also served for 7 years as President and CEO of the Walter and Duncan Gordon foundation, a Canadian private foundation, and is author of Good Grant Making: A Guide for Canadian Foundations to be published by PFC in late 2012.

Oranutt Narapruet, Research Consultant

Oranutt Narapruet currently works as Programme Officer for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Bangkok, Thailand, where she oversees the organization’s social democracy and economic policy programmes. Prior to moving to Bangkok, she held the positions of Development Director at the Philanthropy Bridge Foundation and Development Officer at the Charities Aid Foundation in the UK, where she mainly focused on expanding and cultivating activities and partnerships across Asia. In 2011, Singapore’s Social Space magazine published Oranutt’s article on the role and potentials of Celebrity Philanthropy. Oranutt is a Master’s graduate from the London School of Economics and completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Durham.
