WINGSForum is a premier event in the global philanthropy community.Focused on identifying and developing new innovations in the sector, WINGSForum was designed as a peer learning experience where philanthropy leaders could share practical lessons and inspiration from their work. By thinking of new ways to scale up innovative solutions, grantmaker associations have a special role in helping philanthropy become more effective. To this day, the event is regarded by participants as a valuable opportunity for professional development, relationship building and knowledge sharing. |

1998 |
WINGSForum 1998 (originally named IMAG) took place at the International Meeting of Associations Serving Grantmakers (IMAG) in Oaxaca, Mexico. From the IMAG report: The initiative for an international meeting of associations serving grantmakers came from the International Committee of the Council on Foundations. The meeting became reality after two years of planning by a 13-person committee representing various associations serving grantmakers from around the globe. This historic meeting was designed to open a dialogue among associations whose mandate focuses either entirely, or at least in part, on serving and supporting grantmakers and foundation-like organizations. It explored how these associations can increase their capacity to serve their grantmaking members and through them to strengthen the nonprofit sector around the world.

2010 |
WINGSForum 2010 was held from 18-20 November 2010 at Lake Como, Italy, and hosted by Associazione Italiana Fondazioni ed Enti di Erogazione (Assifero) and Fondazioni e di Casse di Risparmio Spa (ACRI). During the forum, primary topics included improving the legal environment for global philanthropy, developing models for more effective collaborations in the sector, and engaging more strategically with policymakers and multilateral organisations. The 2010 Forum came at an important time, not only for philanthropy, when the financial crisis and the increasing severity of some of the most pressing global problems have thrown these questions into higher relief, but also for the future of WINGS.
