Call for Peer Reviewers | Guidelines and Application Forms

We invite applications from lesbian and transgender individuals from thirteen eligible southern African countries, to get involved in making decisions about grants for work that addresses discrimination against lesbian women or transgender people. The thirteen eligible countries from which peer reviewers may apply are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

A selection panel will review all applications and make decisions about the appointment of peer reviewers. All peer reviewers must be available for a two-day regional workshop that will be held in Johannesburg on 24 and 25 November 2015. Peer reviewers will not be paid for their time but the Other Foundation will pay all expenses for participation. Decisions about successful applicants will be made within one week of the closing date for applications.

The closing date for submission of applications is Wednesday, 11 November 2015.

Call for Grant Applications | Guidelines and Application Forms

We invite applications for grants from any individual or organization in thirteen eligible southern African countries, for work that addresses discrimination against lesbian women or transgender people. To be eligible for a grant you must be:

  • A lesbian woman or a transgender person, or an organization that is led by lesbian women or transgender people; or
  • A general LGBTI organization that addresses discrimination against transgender people or lesbian women.

Grant applications will be accepted for work up to the end of September 2016. The thirteen eligible countries from which grant applications will be accepted are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Grant allocations will be made in a two-step process. The first step will be to submit a concept proposal.

All concept proposals will be assessed by a panel of peers of grant applicants. The peer reviewers will recommend the concept proposals that will be taken to the second stage of the grant making process. In the second stage, the recommended applicants will be invited to submit full grant proposals. The board of trustees of the Other Foundation will make final decisions about grant allocations.

The Foundation has ZAR 1.5 million for grant allocations in this round of grant making.

The closing date for submission of grant concept proposals is Wednesday, 11 November 2015.
