One of the most celebrated aspects of philanthropy is its ability to take risks. The sector has freedom and resources, commodities not enjoyed by other actors, to test innovative approaches and solutions. These, once successful, could then be brought to scale by governments, for instance. Nevertheless, the philanthropic sector is apparently coming to be ever more risk-averse. Questions abound: Are foundations taking the risks they can? Or do they prefer "easy wins”? Would a willingness to take risks enhance foundations’ impact? Join us as we present research on the topic and drawing from our presenters’ experiences.
