Biography - Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II
Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala II is the Chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, the holding company of one of the largest and most respected business groups in the Philippines. Ayala Corporation has subsidiaries and affiliates in real estate development, telecommunications, banking and financial services, electronics manufacturing, water distribution, and automotive dealerships. Mr. Zobel also serves as Chairman of the Bank of the Philippine Islands, Globe Telecom, Inc., and Integrated Microelectronics, Inc. and is Vice-Chairman of Ayala Land, Inc., Manila Water Co., and the Ayala Foundation, Inc. which is the group’s social development arm. Apart from his responsibilities on the boards of the Ayala Group companies, Mr. Zobel is a member of various international and local business and socio-civic organizations, including the JP Morgan International Advisory Council, the Mitsubishi Corporation International Advisory Committee, the Toshiba International Advisory Group, the Asia Society, and the Asia Business Council. He is also a member of the Harvard University Asia Center Advisory Committee, Harvard Business School Asia Advisory Committee, and the Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Management. Mr. Zobel is a national council member of the World Wildlife Fund (US). He was named a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow in 1995 and was a TOYM (Ten Outstanding Young Men) Awardee in the Philippines in 1999. Mr. Zobel studied at Harvard University where he earned his BA in Economics (cum laude) in 1981 and his MBA in 1987. |
