Airport Bangkok is now served by the new Bangkok International Airport Suvarnabhumi, which is located in the Samut Prakarn province of Thailand, 30km east of Bangkok. See below for Ground transportation advice. Attire Conference attire is business casual. We recommend dressing in layers as meeting room temperatures may vary. For additional guidance on dress when sightseeing in Thailand, please see the cultural guidelines document at the top of this page. Climate November is the beginning of the cool season in Bangkok. Average temperatures are 22-31C (75-94F), with high humidity. Culture We have prepared a brief guide on cultural guidelines for your visit to Thailand. You can access this two-page document in PDF format. Ground transportation Safe ground transportation to the hotel by taxi is available outside Bangkok International Airport Suvarnabhumi. Taxi fares to and from the hotel are approximately US$20. Be sure to have your flight arrival information ready. Note: Please be prepared to pay in cash (to your Destination Asia guide/driver) on arrival. Hotel WINGSForum will be held at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok in downtown Bangkok, located on the Chao Phraya River, with sweeping views of Bangkok. Recently completed, this contemporary hotel is conveniently accessible by road, skytrain or river. (Go to the hotel website). Please make your reservation through the WINGSForum online registration. While rate and availability cannot be guaranteed after 16 August, you may still be able to obtain conference rates. Leisure travel Bangkok, Thailand and Southeast Asia offer abundant opportunities for leisure and tourism. The official website for tourism in Thailand is www.tourismthailand.org. Marketplace For information about official exhibitors, as well as what participants should know about displaying their own material, please visit the Marketplace page. Meals All lunches and dinners during the conference, except dinner on 18 November, will be included in the registration fee. Most meals will be buffet-style and accommodate a range of tastes and requirements. To facilitate the planning and help if there are sit-down dinners, your online registration form asks about special dietary requirements. All breakfasts will be available at designated areas as part of the WINGSForum agenda. Before and after WINGSForum, breakfasts will be served at The Flow, the Millennium Hilton's main restaurant. (On 15 November, delegates who do not attend the CF/CI satellite meetings should go to The Flow for breakfast.) Individuals who have breakfast at The Flow during WINGSForum may be charged an additional breakfast at retail price. Media Members of the media should request press credentials from the WINGS Secretariat. Partners/travelling companions WINGSForum participants may wish to bring partners or travelling companions to Bangkok. They should register as "partner/travelling companion" to benefit from the negotiated room rates at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok. Partners and travelling companions will be welcome to sign up for the WINGSForum social events. They may wish to visit sights in Bangkok and its environs (see "Leisure travel"). Visa Visa and travel information for Thailand can be found at the website of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Any foreigner needs a visa to enter Thailand, however, nationals of about 41 countries can enter Thailand without obtaining a prior visa if their stay does not exceed 30 days.
