We have prepared a brief guide on cultural guidelines for your visit to Thailand. You can access this two-page document in PDF format.

Marketplace

For information about official exhibitors, as well as what participants should know about displaying their own material, please visit the Marketplace page.

Meals

All lunches and dinners during the conference, except dinner on 18 November, will be included in the registration fee. Most meals will be buffet-style and accommodate a range of tastes and requirements. To facilitate the planning and help if there are sit-down dinners, your online registration form asks about special dietary requirements.

All breakfasts will be available at designated areas as part of the WINGSForum agenda. Before and after WINGSForum, breakfasts will be served at The Flow, the Millennium Hilton's main restaurant. (On 15 November, delegates who do not attend the CF/CI satellite meetings should go to The Flow for breakfast.) Individuals who have breakfast at The Flow during WINGSForum may be charged an additional breakfast at retail price.

Media

Members of the media should request press credentials from the WINGS Secretariat.

Partners/travelling companions

WINGSForum participants may wish to bring partners or travelling companions to Bangkok. They should register as "partner/travelling companion" to benefit from the negotiated room rates at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok.

Partners and travelling companions will be welcome to sign up for the WINGSForum social events. They may wish to visit sights in Bangkok and its environs (see "Leisure travel").

Visa

Visa and travel information for Thailand can be found at the website of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Any foreigner needs a visa to enter Thailand, however, nationals of about 41 countries can enter Thailand without obtaining a prior visa if their stay does not exceed 30 days. A list of these countries can be found here.

If you do require a visa, the following information may be helpful:

  • Please start as soon as possible to check the requirements for a visa (if you need a letter of invitation please see below).
  • Normal processing times for visas are two business days if the application is submitted in person, and one week plus mailing time if the application is submitted by mail.
  • For a fairly comprehensive list of locations, websites and contact information of many Thai Embassies and Consulates go to www.traveller2000.com/thailand/embassies_worldwide.htm. Residents of countries without a Thai Embassy or Consulate should refer to the Thai Embassy or Consulate in the nearest country.
  • Most embassies and consulates will allow people attending a conference to enter with a tourist visa. Usually the following documents must be submitted to obtain a tourist visa.
    • Current passport with a validity not less than six months
    • Visa application form
    • Two recent, passport-sized (4x6 cm) photos of the applicant
    • Return transportation ticket, paid in full
    • Proof of financial means (20,000 baht per person and 40,000 baht per family; these are equivalent to US$500 or US$1,000, respectively)
  • Additional documents may be required, for example a letter of invitation. WINGS is happy to send you one if you send a request to wings@efc.be with your full name, address, organisational affiliation, fax number with dialing codes, and full passport details (nationality, passport number, place and date of issue, expiration date).
