For the 2015 CIVICUS civil society report, Helena Monteiro (WINGS) highlights features of an enabling environment for philanthropy, and the role infrastructure support organizations play in helping to achieve them.

'Stop the Bleeding' seeks to end illicit financial flows from Africa
TrustAfrica is one of six Pan-African organizations to launch a unified campaign against illicit financial flows. This subject is a "key part of the conversations on Africa’s development road map".

Int'l Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa 
World leaders looked at how different sources of funding can support sustainable development, including the UN SDGs. WINGS members and partners Foundation Center, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and EFC, and OECD netFWD, hosted side events to discuss philanthropy’s contribution to the financing for development. African Philanthropy Network and the Southern Africa Trust also took part.

A Watershed Moment for African Philanthropy
The 2015 AGN Assembly was significant because, for the first time, members covered a majority of the costs. The network had previously relied on external funding. That in itself speaks of a maturing sector.
