In 2012 WINGS developed a toolkit to provide suggestions on how to engage corporations based on the stories of our network members. Look for our latest toolkit, coming soon, at our Corporate Philanthropy program page. more »

Network Spotlight: Journeys Into Venture Philanthropy

The AVPN (Asian Venture Philanthropy Network) recently spoke to philanthropy practitioners Ruth Jones and Shaks Ghosh about their motivations for entering the field, the effectiveness of venture philanthropy vis-a-vis aid, and initiatives their organisations are working on. Shaks: "Some believe that business, with its focus on profit, can never truly understand NGOs which, with their commitment to social change, are driven by much more complex 'bottom lines' ... both donor and NGO are likely to be motivated by the same social change agenda, even if they have different ideas regarding how best to get there". more »

WINGS to Host Social Justice Webinar

Philanthropy for Social Justice and Peace co-organised a plenary at the Arab Foundations Forum Annual meeting. Philanthropic resources are used to ease the symptoms of injustice, through services or human development projects. Some are questioning the ultimate impact of these approaches in altering social, economic and political inequalities. To reframe the nature of this work and increase the effectiveness of scarce philanthropic resources, examples from Africa and the Arab region were highlighted. WINGS will address these issues with an interactive webinar on October 24th, featuring Chandrika Sahai (PSJP), Dr. Albert Ruesga (President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation) and Halima Mahomed (Trust Africa).
