Purpose/Mission:

The mission of AFP is to contribute to the development of our country and build peace in Colombia, by influencing opinion on key national issues, by participating in national public policy fora, and by supporting our member foundations.

Programmes:

Through its member foundations the work of the Association is national in scope and focuses on the following areas:

• Economic Development: Employment and income generation in grassroots communities and the development of an entrepreneurial culture through the development, promotion and consolidation of small businesses of all kinds (solidarity groups, micro-companies, cooperatives, etc.)
• Community Organization: Strengthening civil society especially at the grassroots level. The aim is to promote community organizations that promote civic participation.
• Environment: Promotion of environmental awareness and conservation to further sustainable development, as well as development of local and regional goals for environmental quality.
• Public Policy: Developing the capacity of regional governments so they can better plan local development and participative democracy, mindful of the fact that the strengthening of civil society and the development of public institutions are mutually dependent.
