Purpose/Mission:

Advancing a caring and giving community spirit by promoting volunteerism and actively assisting Bermuda’s charities and donors.

Why We're Here
When you give, it is always good to know that what you have given has been put to the best use possible. And we all know that, despite the best of intentions on the part of donor or recipient, this is not always the case. The same principle sometimes applies to Bermuda's donors, corporate and individual, and the charities to which they give. Even with the government's charity regulations, good intentions are sometimes not enough to create good practices.

Our Objectives
The concerns generated by the above were enough for a group of Bermudans to form the Centre on Philanthropy. Their driving reasons:- · Donors need to know how to give and how charities spend contributed funds · Charities need to know that management and accountability is expected of them · The public needs to know the right questions to ask the charities they support · Giving back to one's community is a spirit that should be continually fostered Since 1991 the Centre has worked hard to encourage charities to meet basic standards in their operation and improve their performance, to help contributors give wisely and to foster an appreciation of the need to volunteer to help society.
