Exchange visits

WINGS activities in the field of exchange visits consist of two programmes:

  • WINGS One-2-One Exchanges
  • WINGS Internships

WINGS One-2-One Exchanges

The programme, originally known as the WINGS-CF peer exchange, is open to all WINGS participants. It involves a visit of one organisation to the other, over a period of seven to ten days. Meeting opportunities during the visit include time between visiting and host representatives, larger meetings with the host's other staff and volunteer team, and meetings with local community foundations and other relevant constituents and partners.

The program began in 2002 with three exchanges, and an assessment of the programme by an external evaluator reported on both tangible and intangible benefits identified not only by the visiting organisation but also by the host.

In September 2004, WINGS restarted the programme with a new name: WINGS-CF One-2-One. After several more successful years, it was decided to broaden the the reach of the programme to the entire WINGS network. For more details and to participate go to WINGS One-2-One.

Internships

The WINGS Internship Programme provides an opportunity for individual staff at all levels of grantmaker associations and support organisations in the WINGS network to visit another organisation within the WINGS network for a period of up to two months.

WINGS' inaugural intern, Elizabeth Simone of Grupo de Fundaciones in Argentina, completed a two-week internship at the Donors Forum of South Florida in June 2002. The Donors Forum is a member of the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers . Elizabeth's focus on corporate philanthropy and communication strategies allowed her the opportunity to meet with many of the Donors Forum's member organisations. Read Elizabeth's report on her internship experience.

The programme is currently not active. No applications can be accepted at this time.
