WINGS One-2-One

Begun in 2002, this programme was originally based on peer to peer exchanges between organisations in the WINGS-CF network. In 2007 it was decided to broaden the reach of the programme to the entire WINGS network. WINGS provides support for visiting and host organisations.

Applications for the programme are welcome on an ongoing basis. Please consult and follow the instructions in the programme brief.

Background

Under the expanded program, a WINGS network participant may apply for either of the following arrangements:

  • Your organization may send two persons to the organization with which it is to be matched, or;
  • The matched organization may send one or two persons to your organization so that more people from your organization may benefit from the exchange.

Visits may last from five to ten days.

The programme began in 2002 with three exchanges involving Community Foundations of Canada and the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (Brazil), Philanthropy Australia and Community Foundation Network (UK), and Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) Russia and CEMEFI (Mexico).

In early 2003, a thorough assessment (PDF - 78 KB) of the programme was done by an external evaluator, Diana Leat, who reported on both tangible and intangible benefits identified in every case by both the visiting organisation and the host. A complete history of the programme can be found in the Programme Brief.

The value and benefits of the One-2-One program was reiterated at the strategic planning meetings of the WINGS Coordinating Committee and the WINGS-CF Advisory Committee in 2007. Both committees agreed to offer such learning opportunity to the broader WINGS network. The committees decided to also pursue a more proactive and targeted approach in engaging network participants.

Working group

The WINGS One-2-One working group oversees the programme, including review of applications and assistance to staff in structuring and evaluating individual exchanges.
