CGBD Mission: To support and grow a community of foundation leaders who: • learn by sharing knowledge; • adopt a holistic approach to environmental problem-solving; • seek to be well informed about scientific, economic, cultural and political factors affecting their work; and • pursue collaborative strategies to effect change guided by a broad scale assessment of trends.
CGBD Goals: • To create strategic partnerships among funders and other partners in the U.S. and internationally to proactively address the challenges of accelerating threats to global biological diversity. • To increase the strategic impact of grantmaking by connecting member foundations with significant grantmaking opportunities and with a full range of groups working on behalf of conservation concerns. • To increase financial resources devoted to conserving biological diversity. • To identify needs, emerging issues, strategic opportunities and alliances for the conservation of biological diversity through a variety of approaches, including the incubation of new projects. • To promote the effective use of monitoring and evaluation activities and other enhancements of the grantmaking craft among member foundations.
